Lee Camp (leecamp.net) wants us to think about this little pussy.

Well, the headline sure made me come running. A message worth hearing as well. Time well spent, as usual.

now if that had been me posting that title, everyone would have come running..ha..like I came running here.

Oh you Yankees!
So cute with your 'clever' vernacular and double entendres.

From whence I come, the 'attention' a photograph of a kitten evokes is normally one of Pavlovian salivation, or at best, indifference. I've yet to perceive, or experience, 'kawaii' - as the Japanese would say.

Does this make me a bad person?

PENolan said...

Not sure about kawaii - but if it's got anything to do with Hello Kitty, we're both bad people

Aquarians Love To Fuck said...

Hello Kitty is the personification of kawaii - terminal cuteness.

We are indeed both bad people. Perhaps this is why The Tutor likes us.

I would like to see the algorithm that was used to equate this minimum wage of $1.60 in 1968 and its purchasing power equivalent in 2013 of $21.16.

In 1968, $1.60 would buy you three Big Macs or one hit of Green Toad Blotter (or Window Pane). In 2013, three Big Macs will run you $10.60. I suspect 10 bucks would probably get you a hit of the good stuff too.

I reckon the minimum wage should be about $11.00. $21.16 seems a tad too generous. After all, my yachts don't buy themselves ya know. I gots to makes me my avaricial profits off the backs of the proletariat some how.

And when did I ever say I liked you Fucking Aquarians?
The fact that I might regale you, on occasion, with Mister Wiggly is not reason enough to assume I actually like you.
I'm merely fulfilling a biological imperative AND deferring to the onerous burden placed upon me by my ill-conceived "Contract To Purchase" I signed with your father. It seems, of the three water buffalo I transferred in consideration for you, one came up lame and another fallow. Your father, and rightly so, invoked the Penalty Clause.
Oh how I suffer!
Yer Dad's a right git, ya know!

Dearest Bilious,

Remember the ending in the film "Montenegro"?

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I told you you couldn't fool my dad with used water buffalo. You NEVER listen to me.
Green Toad Blotter?
Ha!
That explains a lot.

ALT-F and Rhet -
I was just about to leave a comment on one of your blogs or the other only to discover it's impossible to leave comments on your blogs.
Has it always been thus, or only since half Palestine has been dropping by?

Trish, who are these new buddies of yours commenting on your blog? They are certainly entertaining! :)

PENolan said...

I wish I knew, Libs. All I know is they (if it's really two people) buzzed in from somewhere in Canada the other day. I like it because I always learn something new.

okjimm said...

be very careful of buzzin Canadians ...specially this time of year. They start thinking of the Spring Defrost and go bonkers. Or maybe that is Minnitossans. Almost the same.

You mean "the State formerly known as The British Mandate For Palestine"? Which itself is the State(s) formerly known as the "Ottoman Sanjaks of Nablus, Acre, part of the Beirut Vilayet, and the Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem".

How's that for learnin'?

To answer your query, it has always been thus. You may, if you so choose, partake of my Handy Comments Facility if the spirit moves you to do so.
Deliberate "Assholery" is mandatory though.

Sterculian Rhetoric mihi nomen est, quia multi sumus.

Any similarities of the above to Mark 5:9 is purely coincidental.
Honest!

Canadians, be they of the droning variety or not, are very different from "Minnitossans" - what ever they are.
For instance the trademark 'death-defying search for the middle of any road' is surely not a "Minnitossan" quality. Or is it?

okjimm said...

Minnitossan grow up with a life long id crisis. They love hockey like Canadians and grieve when they cannot skate on the lakes in summer. They speak to themselves and become very suspicious when they answer their own questions. A Minnitossan would love to find the middle of the road....but are petrified of the possibility of running into a chicken coming from the opposite direction.

Although I am not Canadian, The Tutor is, and he, like yours truly, dislikes all things hockey - and, for that matter, all other 'sportsball thingies' too. With the possible exception of World Cup Football. Let's face it, nothing screams sexy masculinity like Cristiano Ronaldo when he's dribbling. If it were not for the fact that the sexiest man alive, or dead, is Paul Newman, Ronaldo would rule.

I think this is why I'm so angry at America. When I got married in '84 my husband was working a union job and making $15.41 an hour, which was a damn good wage at about five times the minimum wage. I asked him recently how much that same job pays now and he said it was only about $21 an hour, less than three times minimum wage in California. Most people would be grateful to get that job now, but it really doesn't seem fair to me for union members to lose that much ground, you know? I'm grateful that we had good, union insurance when I had our son, and I'm sure the Laborer's Union still has good insurance. But it's a shame that wages have not kept pace.

I couldn't have agreed more when Obama said in the State of the Union Address that it wasn't right for people working full-time jobs to still be living under the poverty line. Predictably the right wing loons went crazy over the idea of sharing ANY of the wealth. They always scream about having to fire people and close businesses if wages are raised, but it's bullshit. That stuff NEVER really happens.

I was trying to raise a child as the rules were being changed and the deck was being stacked against the workers. I can't imagine trying to have a family with these "new" rules. It's nearly impossible now and the struggle is getting worse. I don't blame my son for not wanting to have children in the current economic environment.

Cute. I saw this on FB. It's horrible that minimum wage has not kept up. I believe the difference between what we make and what we should is what's making the top 10% so rich.

VV - I saw it on FB too. Glad to see you and hope things are going okay for you this semester.
You too, Cali
