Free at Last

Marie was one of the first bloggers to give me a follow which made me feel like I was writing something worth reading. Her blog was Attentive Aphorist. I had to look up the work Aphorist to learn that an aphorist is someone who uses terse sayings which embody a general truth or astute observation. She certainly made some astute observations in her unforgettable rants and in many inspiring pieces about being a free thinking neighbor and mom.

I lifted this text straight from Dr. Von Monkerstien over at Monkey Muck

Goodbye my friend

Marie aka Themom passed away last night. She was a great blog buddy and a swell Facebook friend. She'd been battling heart related issues for the past 8 months. She's left behind a slew of kids, grandkids, a funny and touching blog. It was my privilege to have known her and it was my honor to have been her friend. Rest in peace Marie, you'll be missed by many many people.

She wasn't the best, or the smartest, or the funniest writer, but she was the most genuine of us all. She'll be missed.

I'm sorry I missed out on getting to know this free thinker - and, of course, I'm sorry for the loss to her friends. If you hadn't explained it, I would have had to look up "aphorist" myself.

HI TRISH-

I too am sorry I missed knowing your blog friend, Marie -'Attentive Aphorist'. I am also glad you explained what that word meant for I hadn't a clue. I feel your sadness.

Love to you
Gail

I'm so sorry you've lost this friend. She didn't look old enough to have grandkids, much less heart trouble. I hope her words and memory live on.

She will be missed by many of us. I thought she was getting better so I am shocked to read this.

Yeah - I thought she was on the mend just last week. Just goes to show you how fleeting life can be for all of us.

Same here....Marie was one of my very first followers and was just wonderful to talk with on email and her blog. She was smart, funny, and an absolute joy. She only lived about an hour from me, and I often thought of taking my tax returns up for her to do. Wish I had now. Very sad.
