A Room with a View

Since I moved in - one month ago today - I've divided my time between unpacking and arranging stuff and laying up in the bed looking out the window.

Here's the view to the west

The graveyard straight across the roof tops keeps it real on an existential level:

There's a church to the east

You can see a building peeking out between the roof and the trees.

And there's New Jersey - near the end of the day

At the end of the day, I'm happy to say that I'm back to being hopeful about Abilene Steve. These things take time, but with a view like this out my window, I'm not going anywhere for a while.

Gorgeous. I'd lie in bed and look at that too. I would find great peace in my own place, and a new world in front of me. I always loved moving and experiencing new places and people. Have you gotten to meet any of your new neighbors?

Thing of Beauty #16-101. I think it's #16 anyway. I'm going to have to start keeping a better count of those Things of Beauty, Jen

V.V. My neighbors are, in general, very friendly. A lot of them only speak Spanish, and they are very tolerant of my efforts. Many have been in the building 20 - 25 years. Then a lot are new like me. Students with 5 in an apartment, though. I've met one white woman about my age who teaches at a local community college.
A tall black man with a pit bull lives across the hall. He's very friendly, and it's kind of cute since from a stereotypical point of view, I should be terrified of him - but he's lived here since he was little.

Gail - I love your home's new look. Especially the plants and the music room.

Dr. Monkey, It's like a sanctuary after all the angst of the last couple of years. Whew!

Leslie, I absolutely agree ;)
