Fourth of July
Simple Gifts
Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right.

Gorgeous. I fine myself aspiring more and more to simplicity these days.
Happy 4th of July! I've always loved this old Shaker hymn.
Wonderful video with absolutely beautiful visuals. Of course I can't hear this without thinking of Martha Graham! Not surprisingly, I'm not familiar with the hymn but there's a potent message there. Happy 4th to you and everyone else.
I've always loved that song. Happy 4th of July! Any plans?
Happy 4th, Tricia. Nice piece, btw.
Hi Trish - I loe the video, thanks so much. And yes, simple is good - I love to live simply - and may I add, I feel a 'shift' here and I like it a lot.
Love to you, Happy 4th
Gail

p.s. take a look, when you have a sec, at the picture on my last post, k?
Geesh. I never realized this was actually "part" of the score for Appalachian Spring! Won't even tell you how many thousands of times I've heard it, seen it performed by Graham and even danced in it my stupid effin self. How dumb is that? The fact that I love it so damn much makes it even worse.
Leslie, I don't know which came first, but I could swear that tune has been around for centuries.
Lisa, me too.
Debra, me too
V.V. not a single plan
Jaded, I'm glad you like it
Gail - it's gorgeous. Love the garden. Actually, it's almost like the garden is all over the house
William Byrd's music.
